Paying Rent
Some things to take note about paying your rent:
- Rent is usually paid weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
- Pay your rent using bank transfer if possible so that you have a record of your rent payments.
- If you are paying by cash, make sure you get a receipt of your payment.
- Your receipt should be clearly labeled with what the payment is for.
- Eg. “Rent for week starting on 3/4/2013”
- When and how you pay rent depends on the agreement you have with your real estate agent / landlord.
- Make sure you read the contract or ask the real estate agent / landlord.

- You MUST pay your rent even if you are in dispute with your real estate agent / landlord.
- The RTA will look into this detail when you submit a dispute claim.
