Small Bites of Accommodation Advice - Bond Refunds
Applying for a refund of your rental bond
After moving out of your rental property, you will be able to apply for a refund of your rental bond.
- All rental bonds can only be refunded into Australian bank accounts.
International Students should not close your local bank account before you permanently leave for home. - If you currently do not have an Australian bank account, you will need to open one if you have a bond to claim from your rental accommodation. Alternatively, you can nominate an Australian bank account of someone you trust.
- To apply for a refund, you can:
- Use the RTA Web Services. You will need to create a QGov account.
- Post a paper-based refund form (Form 4) to the RTA.
Get a copy of this form on the RTA's Bond Refund page.
- More information can be found on the RTA website.
