UniLodge Herston is an affordable purpose-built student accommodation community created within the refurbished towers of the heritage-listed Lady Lamington Building and located within the Herston Quarter Redevelopment, just 3. 5 km from the Brisbane CBD. Situated in a central inner-city suburb, UniLodge Herston is 1km to QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus, and a short 1. 5 km walk to Brisbane’s nightlife mecca, The Valley. This accommodation is directly adjacent to the University of Queensland (UQ) Herston Campus (including the faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Public Health), and is well serviced by major road networks, with the Herston bus interchange also directly across the road.
UniLodge Herston is a unique and exciting addition for students in Brisbane and provides accommodation options including single rooms, loft style rooms, and bunk shared rooms, all with complimentary superfast NBN broadband WiFi. We have also designed state-of-the-art common facilities including a Master Chef inspired kitchen, cinema, a range of common areas and games rooms, courtyards, and gymnasium.
The Lady Lamington Towers is a century-old state-listed heritage building that has been adaptively reused from its original purpose as nurses accommodation and refurbished for contemporary student accommodation. The Towers are the centrepiece of the Herston Quarter, which is a vibrant, diverse and connected community comprising world-class health infrastructure, student, commercial and residential accommodation, childcare and supporting complementary uses. The Herston Health precinct is internationally renowned, situated amongst world leading research and tertiary institutes and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Tips For New Tenants:
1. You will need to buy your own bedding for your room as we only provide a mattress and a mattress protector. You also need to buy dinnerware, cutlery, and kitchenware also. You are welcome to order the essential kit with us before moving in, we can drop the box to your room before your arrival.
2. If you wish to dry your clothes, you may purchase a laundry rack (no higher than the balcony railings) to dry your clothes on the balcony. This is a heritage building. Ropes are not allowed to be tied to the timber on the balcony to dry your clothes. Alternatively, you may use the dryer in the laundry room to dry your clothes.
3. The common areas have air conditioning along with two games rooms and the cinema ( not in residents rooms ). We provide a large communal kitchen with fridges, freezers, pantry lockers, microwaves, dishwasher, ovens etc. Students will have own locker in the kitchen, students can choose to buy a fridge in their room or welcome to use the shared fridge and freezer space in the kitchen.
4. There are numerous secured communal toilets and showers located in each level of the building. All the toilets are provided with hand wash and toilet paper.
5. Lutwyche Shopping Centre - Shopping center includes many great shops such Woolworths , Coles and Aldi with easy access via public transport.
6. Australia Post & Chemist: We have a post office close by in the hospital next-door located in the food court. This is a great place to send parcels and get your money order for your bond. The address is Ned Hanlon Building Shop 2, Level 1/40 Butterfield St, Herston QLD 4006. The chemist is located next door to the post office, if you need medication or emergency supplies.
7. Ezy Mart - If you would like to get a GO- Card to catch the bus this shop is 1-minute walk from our building.
8. Kmart- Kmart is a great store to buy affordable homewares to decorate your room. Toowong is our closest Kmart accessible via train or bus.
9. Fortitude Valley - Located nearby is Fortitude valley a great local bar precinct where you can find many restaurants and places to hang out with your new friends.
